Description
A popular variation of the traditional sosatie, served in a hot dog roll. It's a quick and easy way to enjoy the classic sweet and sour curried meat. Excellent for a braai or quick lunch.
Ingredients
- 500g Pre-made sosaties (search recipes for sosatie meat marinade)
- 6-8 Hot dog rolls
- Butter or margarine
- Lettuce leaves (optional)
- Mrs. Balls Chutney (optional, for extra flavour)
- Onions, finely sliced (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the sosaties on a braai (BBQ), griddle pan, or in a frying pan until the meat is cooked through and lightly charred. Ensure any onions and apricots on the skewers are also tender and caramelised.
- While the sosaties are cooking, lightly butter the inside of the hot dog rolls. You can quickly toast these on the braai grid or in a pan if desired.
- Once the sosaties are cooked, carefully remove the meat, onions, and apricots from the skewers.
- Place a few lettuce leaves in each roll (if using).
- Fill each hot dog roll generously with the sosatie meat, onions, and apricots.
- If desired, add a dollop of Mrs. Balls Chutney and some fresh sliced onion.
- Serve immediately.
